Thomas Matthew Corea is the founding and Managing Partner of The Corea Firm, PLLC from its main office in downtown Dallas, Texas. His practice focuses on complex litigation involving matters of significant public policy interest throughout the United States. That practice is the culmination of years of hard work, long hours and, above all, a personal dedication to providing the most thoughtful, aggressive and individualized representation anywhere. That drive—to be the best—has earned Mr. Corea a reputation as a zealous
advocate who never compromises or waivers on extreme loyalty to his clients or their shared goal on every case. Mr. Corea has represented some of the most celebrated personalities and institutions in the world and, as well, has led many fights against many notorious predators. Mr. Corea has taken on some of the most difficult and complex litigations to come away with true justice and recompense for his clients.
Mr. Corea was born and reared in Southern California as the youngest in a family of five children by the best people he has ever know: his parents. As a child, he developed a strong will to succeed and an incredible work ethic—to which he entirely credits his parents. As a young man he excelled in baseball and football and developed a love for classic automobiles—a passion he pursues today. He went on to pursue his education at the University of California, Los Angeles where he studied Political Science and discovered his true understanding of people. Throughout his studies, Mr. Corea involved himself in the politics of individual liberties, responsible government and fair opportunity for all. That environment provided an awakening for him to become a forceful voice in the fight for justice on a personal and public policy level. Mr. Corea financed most of his UCLA education through working as a Teamster in a South-Central Los Angeles factory on weekends, holidays and school vacations—the origin of his habit of rarely sleeping as well as his personal understanding of America’s working poor.
Mr. Corea received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UCLA in 1992 and entered one of the nation’s most elite law schools, the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco. Hastings’ strong academic rigors and institutional devotion to producing the best lawyers in the country drove Mr. Corea to a deep appreciation for the wisdom and experience of his professors—some of the most famous legal scholars and practitioners. While studying the law, Mr. Corea fell in love with what he practices on a daily basis: advocacy. Upon receiving his Juris Doctor in 1995, Mr. Corea began a litigation and trial practice from Phoenix, Arizona, where he went on to litigate a wide array of cases from personal torts to patent infringement. Mr. Corea tried case after case in federal, state and administrative forums, delivering consistent justice for his clients. With a focus on the challenging, Mr. Corea’s practice developed a theme of zealous advocacy and personal connection with his clients.
While in Phoenix, Mr. Corea cultivated a long-standing academic interest, Indian Law, and developed a specialty in litigation involving matters of Federal Indian Law. That specialty has made Mr. Corea one of the nation’s most prolific attorneys in representing parties in Indian law matters everywhere. As a result, Mr. Corea is admitted before the bars of more than 60 Tribal Justice Systems and consistently represents individuals and institutions before hundreds of Indian tribes throughout the United States.
Mr. Corea eventually moved his practice to be centered in Dallas, Texas upon invitation by one of the nation’s most high-profile litigation powerhouses, Bickel & Brewer, of Dallas and New York City. While at Bickel & Brewer, Mr. Corea focused on litigating Intellectual Property matters and complex Insurance Coverage disputes on behalf of inventors, licensees, entrepreneurs and multi-national conglomerates.
In January of 2003, Mr. Corea founded The Corea Firm, PLLC in Dallas, Texas with the goal of litigating and trying cases in his own style: with zealous advocacy and personalized attention to clients. The firm has grown with significant successes and the addition of tremendously talented people. Mr. Corea credits most of his success in the practice of law to the one thing where most lawyers fall far short: understanding people. By drawing upon his experiences and perspectives, Mr. Corea has become known for an uncanny ability to win over juries with his consuming personal presence.
Through the grace of God, Mr. Corea has become a confirmed Texan. Each day, Mr. Corea practices a dogged devotion to a maverick style of pursuing his life’s work and concentrating on what matters most: family—his and yours. Mr. Corea has been married to the former Jennifer Roberts since August 12, 1995 and they have three children: MaryKate, Lily and Bobby. The Corea family lives life to its fullest from their 280 acre ranch in Palmer, Texas. As a family, they show and compete with World Champion Quarter Horses on the AQHA, PHBA and NSBA circuits. Mr. Corea regularly serves on and assists the boards of several charitable and philanthropic organizations in Texas and throughout the nation.
